Gambling Regulatory Authority Cracks Down on Unauthorized Online Casinos and Revokes GameSoft License

MGA Cracks Down on Unauthorized Online Casinos and Revokes GameSoft Licence
Malta Gaming Authority issues warning on unlicensed online casino platforms and revokes GameSoft’s license.

BetDaddy’s Takeaways:

  • Play But Don’t Get Played: Suspicious gaming sites and online casinos are out there claiming licenses they don’t have. The MGA just called their bluff, so always check your casino’s credentials before you bet big.

  • Play Smart, Stay Safe: Stick with licensed platforms to keep your game legit and your winnings secure.

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), one of the foremost Gambling Regulatory Authorities in Europe, has issued a warning to the public about two online casino platforms operating without authorization: vavadapsv.com and vulkanind.site. The MGA has clarified that these platforms falsely associate themselves with its licensing and urged consumers to be vigilant.

MGA Takes Action Against Fraudulent Online Casino Platforms

Vavadapsv.com claims to operate under an MGA licence (MGA/B2C/314/2015) previously issued to Genesis Global Limited. However, this licence was suspended earlier in the year following the insolvency of Genesis Global. The company’s troubles extend beyond Malta, as the UK Gambling Commission had also suspended its licence in December 2022 after imposing a significant £3.8 million fine for regulatory failures.

Upon visiting vavadapsv.com, users are redirected to vavada.com, a site operated by Moracon Ltd. This platform appears to target a Russian-speaking audience, offering chatbot services in Russian. Similarly, vulkanind.site operates under the branding of Casino Vulkan and falsely claims to use Genesis Global’s suspended licence. Its design and use of Russian Cyrillic script further indicate a focus on the Russian market.

The MGA has emphasized the importance of engaging only with licensed operators. Consumers are encouraged to verify the legitimacy of online casinos directly through the regulator’s official channels. This measure ensures compliance with industry standards and safeguards consumer interests.

MGA Revokes GameSoft Limited’s License

In a separate move, the MGA announced that it had revoked the gaming license of GameSoft Limited as of November 20 due to serious regulatory breaches. GameSoft was found to have failed to comply with multiple obligations, including adherence to regulatory requirements, financial stability, and timely fulfillment of commitments to players. The company’s inability to meet these standards raised significant concerns about its operations, prompting the MGA to intervene.

Following this decision, GameSoft was directed to immediately cease all references to its MGA licence in communications and to settle any outstanding fees owed to the regulator.

Ensuring Safer Gambling

The MGA’s recent actions highlight its dedication to ensuring transparency, fairness, and security within the global iGaming sector. Players and operators alike are reminded of the importance of engaging only with licensed and regulated platforms to protect their interests and contribute to a trustworthy online casino environment.
